Healthwatch Norfolk are dedicated to providing easy and safe access to care for everyone in Norfolk, including refugees.

As Norfolk welcomes refugees from Ukraine, Healthwatch Norfolk have translated and sourced information on accessing health care to give new arrivals extra information and advice about our services:

  •  NHS for Asylum-Seekers – This is a guide to the NHS for asylum-seekers which has been translated into Ukrainian and is downloadable by clicking:
    Translated NHS-guide-for-asylum-seekers- - IN ENGLISH: https://forrestmls.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/NHS-guide-for-asylum-seekers-v5.pdf
  • How The NHS Works – is a leaflet with images about how the NHS works which has also been translated into Ukrainian and can be found by clicking:
    UKRAINIAN English_How-the-NHS-works-Trifold.en.uk - IN ENGLISH: https://www.doctorsoftheworld.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/English_How-the-NHS-works-Trifold.pdf

We have also sourced information in Ukrainian about accessing the 111 service, find out more by clicking here

To access NHS 111 in another language, you just need to say “interpreter” to the call handler and then say the language you wish to communicate in.

There is also this guide for health professionals which gives information about the needs of migrant patients. To access that information, click here.

We will continue to add further information and resources to this page about health and social care, specifically for refugees from Ukraine who are heading to Norfolk, as it is released.  If you are looking for something specific and cannot find it, please get in touch! Our friendly team will be happy to help.
