What is LILY in your Community?

LILY (Living Independently in Later Years) is an initiative designed to make it much easier for older people, their families, friends and carers to access information about services, advice, activities and events that will help them to continue to live safely and independently at home.

The LILY Board oversees the LILY Project and reports to the West Norfolk Health Alliance.

Ask LILY currently brings together over 1000 services, activities and events – including information and advice on money matters, social activities, health, transport and more – for older people and those who support them, making it easy for people to find the contacts and information they need.

It also includes sections for a local What’s On guide, local news page, NHS Choices information and the site can be searched by category, key words, location or via the sites pre-populated quick links.

The LILY Project can be accessed in a variety of ways:

  • The LILY Online Directory
  • By telephoning 01553 616200
  • At community groups, locations and events
  • A home visit from a LILY Advisor

Community Groups, Locations and Events

LILY Advisors are available to attend local groups, locations and events, for example luncheon clubs, GP surgeries and local forums.

To request a LILY Advisor to come along to your event or find out where they will be in attendance, please telephone 01553 616200 and ask for the LILY Coordinator or email asklily@west-norfolk.gov.uk.  The locations can also be found on the ‘LILY Advisor Community Locations' page of the LILY Online Directory, which can be found in the 'LILY in Your Community' section.

Home Visits

LILY Advisors are employees and volunteers from local voluntary sector partners including:

  • West Norfolk Befriending
  • West Norfolk Mind
  • West Norfolk Carers
  • West Norfolk Deaf Association

LILY Advisors attend a training and development day and are LILY Advisor Provider Quality Check approved.  They have mobile IT equipment and are able to access a wide range of information and make referrals as requested.

To request a home visit please telephone 01553 616200 and ask for the LILY Coordinator or email asklily@west-norfolk.gov.uk

Dementia Friendly Home Assessments

The LILY Project also funds Dementia Friendly Home Assesments.

The aim of the assessment is to enable those living with dementia to remain living safely in their own home for longer.

Measures that could be considered include signage or colour differentiation for those who suffer with memory loss and are visually impaired, installation of a Careline personal alarm, improved lighting arrangements, smoke detectors and easy-to-use taps along with recommendations for other adaptations that may reduce any potential risk to the resident.

To request a Dementia Friendly Home Assessment please call 01553 760671
