Smile Dental Care Norfolk

We provide emergency NHS dental treatment and advice for patients who live in Norfolk, but do not have a regular dentist. Treatment is provided from our bases in Norwich and King’s Lynn.

Emergency treatment is to relieve severe pain, swelling, stop bleeding or to provide emergency treatment for dental trauma that does not require a visit to the accident and emergency hospital department.

If you have your own General Dentist, we ask that you contact them for emergency care.

Who it’s for

If you answer yes to any of the questions below, it is likely that you have a dental emergency and should contact your own General Dentist, if you do not have a General Dentist then please contact ourselves.

  • Are you bleeding from the mouth?
  • Are you in severe pain?
  • Do you have a painful loose tooth?
  • Have you suffered trauma to the face or mouth that does not require a visit to the accident and emergency hospital department?
  • Do you have any swelling in the mouth or facial area?

On contacting our service you will speak to our receptionist who will take your personal information and medical history and a brief description of your dental emergency. Following this the receptionist will either direct you to the appropriate clinical service or book an appointment for telephone triage with one of our Dentists. The Dentist will offer advice or arrange treatment as appropriate to your emergency dental need.

Please note, smoothing a chipped tooth, re-cementing a crown and denture repairs are not considered dental emergencies. Typically, such problems can be dealt with by your General Dentist.

Patients will need to register with a general dental practice for routine and ongoing care. A list of NHS Dental Practices can be found on the NHS Home page. www.nhs.uk

All treatment is subject to NHS dental charges, unless you are exempt from dental charges, if you are exempt and you come to the surgery you will be asked to provide evidence of your exemption. A list of exemptions and the emergency dental charge can be found on the NHS website, www.nhs.uk.

Please contact 111 if your emergency is during the evening or weekend and they will appropriately direct you to the relevant out of ours services
