Hunstanton Town Council

Hunstanton Town Council

The Town Council is based in a magnificent Grade II Listed Town Hall, built by George Skipper in 1898. The front is used by the Tourist Information Centre, with the upstairs incorporating the Council Chamber and Clerk's office.

Hunstanton Town Council consists of 17 Councillors. The Council meet at least twice a month in the Council Chamber, usually the first Wednesday of the month are the Committee meetings, comprising of General Purpose Committee, where such business as Anglia in Bloom, dealings with the BCKLWN and future events are considered, Finance Committee where employment, donation requests and all other finance matters are discussed, Town Hall Management Committee which deals with all aspects of the Town Hall such as bookings, health & safety, improvements and the Tourist Information Centre management etc., and Quality Council which deals with town centre markets, land development and localism.

The Friday the week following these committee meetings is when the full Council meet, here representatives from the Borough Council, County Council and Norfolk Constabulary make representation. Members of the public are allowed to attend all Council meetings unless otherwise directed by the Chairman, however they may not participate. There is a ten minute period at the start of every Full Council meeting for the Hunstanton electorate to put their questions to the Councillors and five minutes at the end when questions relating to that meeting’s proceedings may be asked.
