We are launching our New Dementia Workshop that we provide free for Carers in the community caring for people living with Dementia, at our office on a monthly basis (Currently held on the last Tuesday of every month 2pm-4pm).
Whilst the sessions are aimed primarily at our clients family members, we welcome anyone who supports someone living with Dementia in any capacity or people who are simply interested in learning more, our efforts to reduce the stigma attached to Dementia are ongoing.
The session is 2 hours long with a break in-between where we provide light refreshments.
The sessions covers two topics, Alzheimer’s disease and other Dementias and Managing the Challenges. Both topics are informative and the session is PowerPoint presentation based with a few activities, lots of discussion and opportunities for asking questions.
The content covers the following:
- Types of Dementia
- Symptoms and Diagnosis/Prognosis
- Alzheimer’s disease and the history
- Golden rules for caring for someone living with Dementia
- How to cope as a Carer
- Dealing with challenging behaviour
- Engaging and fulfilling activities
- Positive care
