Change Grow Live Volunteer with children
The volunteer role we are looking to find people for is that of an Independent Visitor (IV). IV’s are committed and passionate volunteers who spend a day a month with a young person in foster care or in a children's home.
The children and young people we work with have suffered abuse, neglect and often both; they often mistrust adults and need positive role models to show them that relationships can be trusting, healthy and positive.
The role of an IV can be immensely rewarding and fun; taking a child or teenager out once a month (usually at a weekend) to have fun together by engaging in community activities or visiting places of interest. Minimum age for volunteer applicants is 21 and minimum commitment is for 2 years. Full training and support is provided, plus reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
Please note this role is subject to an Enhanced Children & Adults DBS check. No specific experience or qualifications necessary, just a friendly, positive nature and a genuine commitment to the role.
