Hearing Support Volunteers - West Norfolk Deaf Association

WNDA

Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a kind, patient, helpful and empathetic approach.

Full training will be given however it should be noted that for this role the volunteer would need good manual dexterity as it involves re-tubing hearing aids.

After training and supervised sessions we will want Hearing Support Volunteers to be prepared to visit people in their own homes, provide cover at our monthly drop in’s at GP surgeries and cover the occasional morning in the Deaf Centre. We are also looking to recruit Hearing Support Volunteers to be based at our Bookshop in Downham Market.

Volunteers will need to be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (formally CRB) and will be provided with training for dealing with Vulnerable Adults.

Volunteers can work as little as two hours a month or much more.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and provide a vital service to deaf and hard of hearing people. We would love to hear from you if you feel that you would be interested in helping us to help others. The position is so rewarding and can be a really positive experience for all. Please join our small, friendly team and make a difference to the lives of many isolated people.
