Provision Trade Benevolent Institution
The Provision Trade Benevolent Institution (PTBI) is a charity providing financial help to people (or their surviving widows/widowers) who have worked in the provision trade and find themselves in financially distressed circumstances. The PTBI awards a number of financial benefits, these include:
- Quarterly grants
- Summer gifts
- Winter gifts
- One-off payments to assist with special purchases or home improvements
Applicants must have been employed or engaged in the provision trade or the egg industry for a number of years, or be the widow/widower of such person. The provision trade includes bacon, pig meat and canned meat/fish, dairy products, such as cheese, yoghurt, butter, cream and milk powder. Employment in retail, catering and hospitality do not fall within the remit of the PTBI.
