The House of History - Saving Memories - Memory Walks
Brief Description of the Project
The House of History- Saving Memories Project is a museum-led dementia awareness programme which offers training, access to resources such as reminiscence boxes, and museum-based activities to enable families and carers to provide person-centred care for people living with dementia.
As a social history museum, we understand that a person’s history and memory are of great value and significance - especially for those living with dementia. This project has been developed to support the preserving and sharing of memories with people living with dementia, improving communication and focussing on the person rather than the condition.
Memory walks are dementia-friendly guided visits in the Museum for older people to explore the past, and for people to share their memories and stories of life in King’s Lynn. They can bring a friend or loved one to share memories with, and create some new ones together.
