The Bridge for Heroes

The Bridge for Heroes

The Bridge for Heroes provides members of the Armed Forces Community, including Veterans and their families, with support and facilities, providing companionship and comradeship, alongside information, advice, guidance, and activities, that promote mental health and well-being.

The Contact Centre is based around a charity shop model encompassing a respite area, military museum, one-to-one area, family and training areas and information area.

The centre is open to the public from 10am to 4pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays, and service personnel and families from all British Armed Services can pop-in for a free tea or coffee.

Our dedicated volunteers can provide a listening ear or assistance with compensation claims, pension advice, advice on housing and accommodation, service records and medal applications.

For those curious, we have our own dedicated client researcher who carries out military family research for beneficiaries interested in discovering their ancestry.

The Centre is also used on different days to host various group therapy sessions including art therapy, reminiscence, IT, knit and knatter and cooking groups.

Its aim is to provide an environment that assists early identification of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (also known as PTSD, PTSI or Post Operations Stress Disorder) and other issues that our heroes and their dependants face on returning from front-line operations.
