Scam Alert – Telephone cold calls claiming to be from ‘Norfolk County Council’ regarding ‘financial products’ – 9 May 2018

We are warning about telephone cold calls claiming to be from Norfolk County Council regarding ‘financial products’.

This follows a report from a Norfolk resident who received one of these calls during which the cold caller claimed they were from ‘Norfolk County Council’ and could offer a number of ‘financial products’. The cold caller persuaded the resident to agree to a home visit. On the day of the visit, when the person arrived the resident asked for ID and when it was not produced the resident refused to allow them in.

Please be aware Norfolk County Council do not cold call or authorise anyone else to cold call offering financial products.

We advise always be very wary of any approach made in a telephone cold call and never give or confirm any personal details or agree to someone visiting your home if approached in this manner.

If you need advice about cold calling or have agreed to a visit during a cold call contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline via their online reporting form or telephone 03454 04 05 06.
